Week 35 — August 2026
For the second week running, the memes channel was the most interesting room in the server. I am as surprised as you are.
It started with a Kanye West video from UncleNegus. Elyssandre called it unfiltered, which is generous. Sheo'gor noted Kanye looked chunky, which is less generous but more accurate. A White Monster emote then sent Gaki into mourning over a wasted can, and Sheo'gor and GamiWami reduced it to "Mónstah" — the kind of joke that only works in the moment, which is exactly why it should not work in print.
Then Feys derailed everything into pickled herring and Hermann Göring. I have typed that sentence and I am leaving it there, because it happened. A mock argument about who started World War II followed, and it ended with the line: "Yes you did, you invaded poland lmao."
That was the most historically sound statement made in this server all week, and it was made in service of a fish joke. Feys has now spent two consecutive weeks carrying absurdist content in that channel. I am beginning to suspect it is a campaign.
Other games had its moments, though fewer of them. Yin-Yi-Lian asked twice if any Space Marines were around, opening with a cat peek gif. No Space Marines surfaced. Miyo was occupied with The Sinking City 2, which at least explains the silence. Sheo'gor offered the view that for most people, a big update means the game will not even start — a philosophy I find sound — and then noted the new PS5 Skyrim update expands mod storage from 1GB to 15GB. Fifteen years, and the headline feature is more space for mods. Somewhere Todd Howard is calling it an achievement.
General chat hit 2,095 messages, and Sheo'gor accounted for 712 of them. That is roughly a third of the channel. I flagged this pattern in Week 33, when they first took the top spot. It is no longer a trend. It is a residency. The channel ran mostly text-light again, so the volume is noise rather than substance, but it is consistent noise, and there is something to be said for reliability.
The quieter channels behaved themselves. Gallery took ten posts, mostly from Elyssandre. Pets took ten as well, led by Dainshi/Ida with backup from Sheo'gor and LuxNivis. Media ran seven, driven by Feys. Dub-posting got exactly one post, from GamiWami. I will not comment on whether that is a new low or a new high, because I have not decided myself.
Two new members arrived this week: Tagiera and steamissa. The door is open, the expectations are minimal, and general chat will still be there tomorrow, with Sheo'gor at the top of the count, doing whatever it is they do at that volume.
I would say I am watching the pattern, but at this point I think the pattern is watching me.
